Weather Related Closures
If lightning is observed anywhere in the sky, staff at the Aquatic Centre must immediately clear all patrons from the pool deck. Patrons should be instructed to wait in the change room or their vehicle and not stand outside. Staff need to wait 1 hour from the last occurrence of lightning before allowing patrons to re-enter the pool.
Length of pool closure will be a minimum of one hour and will be determined by the staff and management through consultation with local weather forecasts and observation of local conditions.
No refunds or complimentary passes are to be issued to patrons forced to exit the facility due to poor weather such as lightning or extreme cold conditions.
If the pool closes for an hour or two, paid patrons can exit the facility and return when the re-opening time has been announced. These patrons do not have to pay again. If paid patrons return after the stated re-opening time then their spot cannot be guaranteed and they will have to wait outside till proper ratios have been established.
SPECIFIC RULES OF CONDUCT:
Every rule applies to every patron. There will be NO exceptions. These rules also apply to special groups whom rent the pool.
LANE SWIMMING: The far west lane will be used for individuals who wish to swim laps. One lane may be available during public swim times by request in evenings or quiet times. When the pool is busy with a large amount of patrons, request for the lane rope to be put up may be denied if it presents a potential hazard.
DEEP END SWIMMING: Persons using the deep end of the pool must have sufficient ability to swim two widths (50 feet) of the pool, using the overhead front crawl stroke. Lifeguards will use their discretion as to determine who will be required to demonstrate their capability before using the deep end. No one is allowed to take a running start when jumping into the deep end or flip into the pool.
SLIDES: person 8 years and younger, or height restricted (short) must have sufficient ability to swim two widths (50 feet) of the pool using overhand front crawl stoke. This will ensure that they can adequately get out of the way of the landing area before another patron comes down the slide. This pertains to the racer slide and twisting slide only.
